Hukkasukka is a clothing brand founded in 2020 with the mission to make everyday life easier, more enjoyable, and more sustainable. We sell just one high-quality sock model made in Finland – so you never have to stress about sorting or finding pairs again. Our other garments follow the same principle: simple, durable, and eco-friendly.

Most of us don’t think much about socks. They are often treated as disposable items that wear out quickly or vanish in the wash. Our solution is a durable bamboo sock, with each size identified by a different logo color. We believe that quality, comfort, and domestic production should be expected from socks as well. After all, almost all of us wear them every single day.
Ease
Hukkasukka was born from the pursuit of simplicity. Everyone knows the story of the washing machine that eats socks. On hectic mornings, a missing pair can be frustrating. Our answer: fill your drawer with one model of premium black socks, and you’ll never need to sort or hunt for pairs again. Thanks to color-coded logos, it’s also easy to tell your own socks apart from your family’s or flatmate’s. Shopping is effortless too – you don’t have to worry about color choices or eco-friendliness, because we’ve already made those decisions for you.
Sustainability
Sustainability can mean many things: choosing responsible materials, ensuring ethical production, or simply making clothes that last. We strive for all three. Our socks are made in Finland, which means you support local work and receive a product you can trust. A long-lasting garment is also ecological – the less you need to replace, the smaller the impact. Washing at low temperatures, such as 40°C, further extends the lifespan. Our socks are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, guaranteeing they are safe to wear.
Bamboo
Our socks are made of bamboo viscose. No material is perfect, but compared to conventional fibers like cotton, bamboo viscose is considered more ecological and durable. Bamboo grows extremely fast, requires little water, and needs no irrigation, fertilizers, or pesticides. It produces up to ten times more yield than cotton on the same area, absorbs twice as much carbon dioxide, and releases 30% more oxygen than ordinary trees. Its strong root system also helps prevent erosion and landslides. Industrially cultivated bamboo does not compete with food sources for animals.
As a sock material, bamboo is outstanding. It breathes, feels cool in summer and warm in winter, and absorbs moisture effectively. It’s soft yet durable, making it a more ecological choice than short-lived supermarket socks. While the processing of bamboo viscose has an environmental footprint, we consider it a more sustainable option than cotton.
Antibacterial or not?
Bamboo viscose is antibacterial, which means it resists odors and reduces bacteria growth. It is important to note, however, that these properties do not come directly from the bamboo plant itself. Instead, antibacterial qualities are common to all viscose fibers. Bamboo viscose is therefore not more antibacterial than other viscose types, but it is significantly more antibacterial than cotton.
